Content Editor, Cathay (Hong Kong)

Love travel? As Content Editor, Cathay, you will play a key role in the creation of content for Cathay – from stories that inspire readers to explore everything the world has to offer, to lifestyle pieces that look beneath the surface to tease out trends, hidden gems and new discoveries in our home of Hong Kong and far beyond.

This content includes editorial stories, campaign content, website content, social media, EDMs and magazines.

The role involves an array of responsibilities, including idea generation and writing of content in line with the client’s priorities, objectives, brand positioning, tone of voice and digital best practice. 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research, plan, write, edit and upload content across all aspects of the Cathay portfolio
  • Liaise with editorial, design and account management teams
  • Work on layouts – both digital and print
  • Be involved in idea generation, story angles and content solutions for the client

DAY TO DAY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Contribute to content ideation and strategic planning of content
  • Research, plan, write and edit content, primarily editorial stories and features, but also covering:
    • campaign content
    • EDMs
    • Magazines
    • Other digital content
  • Reflect client amends throughout the approval process
  • Have input into the planning process for client meetings and forums
  • Upload and publish stories on digital platforms

SKILLS AND EXPERTISE 

  • First-class writing. Experience of editing and sub-editing preferred
  • Superb knowledge and understanding of digital best practice, including SEO, EDMs, editorial design and social media
  • Ability to adopt and channel brand messaging and tone of voice
  • Experience with CMS and digital content publishing
  • Presentation and persuasion skills
  • Understanding of client priorities
  • Communication skills – keeping your editors and our clients informed
  • Knowledge of trends and industry data
  • Strategic thinking
  • Knowledge of Traditional Chinese and Cantonese a definite advantage

REPORTING LINES AND LIAISON

  • Reports to Managing Editor, Cathay
